There has been a lot of talk about the reality of success regarding opt-in lists and email marketing in general.
As a result of this talk there have been many marketers deploying surveys conducted to ensure that website promotion through opt-in list building is not just internet hype. The results obtained in these surveys have clearly shown that opt-in list building is still the hottest marketing tool for website promotion or marketing in general with returns shown to be as high as $42 out for every $1 invested! That’s HUGE!
The surveys are also a means of eliminating some of the internet marketer’s fears based on technological advancements which might pose a threat to the success of opt-in list building. When social media first blew up, "it was the end of email marketing". When videos exploded on the scene, "it was the end of email marketing." When Zoom calls became all the rage....yeah, you got it.... However nothing could be further from the truth and the stats bear that out. A few quick searches to verify the info on your own will quickly confirm for you that email marketing is alive and well! Maybe even now more than ever! However, email marketing is just one tactic you can use to reach customers, and a good one at that. What's important to remember is how it fits into your overall marketing strategy. It also helps bring new understanding to the huge earning potential that an opt-in list creates integrated with a well developed strategy.
It is without a doubt that new website owners will have some fears about all the SPAM filters making it hard for their prospective clients to receive their emails. However it has been proven that most opt-in list marketers have not been hurt by the technological advancement of spam filters. This is due to the obvious fact that opt-in list subscribers are not being spammed as they have willingly parted with their email address and have ASKED you to send them promotions.
Other fears that have hit the scene of internet marketing in terms of opt-in list building have been that most people are not willing to part with their emails these days. WRONG! These fears are unfounded as the increase in broadband is making it easier and cheaper for people to get online. Therefore more customers are made available and are indeed willing to part with their email addresses which have almost become a necessity to conduct online business these days. The creation of email addresses has exploded over the last two years for obvious reasons.
The other reason for the success of opt-in list building is that many websites are allowing subscribers to join the opt-in list on the website's own home page. When you make things EASY, like signing up for your promo's easier for people to sign up on your mailing list as opposed to having to click on another link or take any additional actions, your conversions go down. Simple is key. Fast, mobile, flow to the desired result.... a funnel, right? Make the option of joining the opt-in mailing list as simple and enticing as possible to capture the information and permission, that's it.
Opt-in list building is about giving your potential customer the option and incentive they need to purchase your product or service. It requires you to have the customer in mind. What are their needs and how can your product provide for those needs? A good opt-list building technique is about getting your customer to have a relationship with you and begin confirming that you are the advisor or source for something they thought you were... You become consistent to them, eventually maybe even habitual for them to interact with, right coffee shops?
Once you have your subscribers email address you have one foot in the door. Your subscribers are like minded people who are in some way interested in your product. Don’t disappoint them by offering something that you cannot deliver. An opt-in list is also a good way to get traffic to your site AND your store. The best way that a website can survive is through generating consistent, growing website traffic, no different from a business. Now we can combine the two, target, track, use tags all in ways to better serve our clients and help them have better experiences with our businesses.
