One thing I learned long ago was that wine tastings like waterfalls are all unique and different. As you pull into the vineyard you are assailed by beautiful buildings, flowers, and grape vines.  The buildings are a great gray wood with red roofs. We even spent some time in the flowers. Coming around the side of the building you can see all the grape vines spread out before you, row after row of vines. The tasting has a greeter that directs you to the cashier which then directs you to the tasting. It is a little confusing but to each their own.  The outdoor tasting area is set up for comfort with nice bar stools, they even have an adjustable shade to block the sun from the tasting patio. The tasting is set up for two versions: a sweet or dry flight. This was the first time we had ever seen this type of setup. We of course got the sweet flight which is really only mildly sweet with semi-dry to semi-sweet. After the tasting we got a cold bottle of the Abby Rose and sat at one of the picnic tables to relax (first most not hiking day!). We watched people play with the dogs, who were really enjoying the extra attention. After a glass we walked down the vineyard to the overlook of Seneca Lake. During the walk passing all the vines really drove home how many grapes were planted!

One of the best Vignoles - 2020 vintage. They said it's going fast. This was still waiting to be posted from July 2021. They are now out of Vignoles. Still great place to taste and buy. We're Rose Guild members

Vicky was very helpful and generous with their wines. We were offered wines that weren’t included in the tasting and ended up taking home a few bottles. It’s a beautiful setting!

Thank you SO MUCH for the hand written note and for mailing me my license back. I didn't even realize I had lost it! I can't read the signature but please thank L.S. for being so kind. The vineyard itself? Very nice. We went for a wine tasting and the person who poured made sure to tell us about each wine and also gave us some history of the vineyard. Our group didn't feel rushed and it was probably the best experience of all our stops. The wine was great, too!

What can I say? Only awesome things of course! We've been coming up to Seneca Lake Wine Region for 29 years now and Lakewood is always consistent with the quality of wine they produce. Their Port is unmatched! Abby Rose and Niagara are very nice wines on the sweeter side. Dry wine lovers will also enjoy themselves! Lakewood's staff are always cordial and pleasant. Beautiful surroundings to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and some snacks. The trip is never complete unless you pay a visit.
