This museum is amazing! All time that I've gone to Corning Museum of Glass, I never knew that The Rockwell Museum was around the corner! It's very quaint and almost private. You really understand that culture and the people are wonderful to talk with. I met a woman named Pam who really showed me around being that it was my first time. They have any exhibit dedicated to some of the people that actually live there! It was totally worth the 108 mile drive! Today they had The Day of the Dead event. It was awesome! They even had an exhibit to honor that! I will definitely come back! It is also great for children and they have the Rockwell Kids Art Museum that is around the corner. I didn't get a chance to go this time, but that's our next stop when we come back to Corning! Go, go! I promise you'll enjoy it!

Really a great museum! I was very pleasantly surprised at how much art and information they packed into the space. How cool it is to have this great museum nestled at the gateway to the fingerlakes!

Wonderful little museum in a beautiful historic building. They have a great collection of Western and Native American art and special exhibits. I particularly liked the juxtaposition of the traditional and the modern Native American art.

Our visit was a lunch pit stop on a road trip. This is a small museum with large over priced gift shop. We stopped here intending to eat our lunch on their balcony. The lady said no food was allowed in the museum. She directed us to a park nearby. When we went back to explore the museum, l was surprised we couldn't use the balcony. It was all set up with tables, chairs and trash cans. I understand about no food in the museum, but we had everything stowed in a backpack. Anyway, they have one upper floor with interesting Indian western era paintings and artifacts. I did enjoy those paintings from the 1800's. They are well preserved and capture the Indian way of life. Corning is a cute town. This museum is worth it as freebie option with other museum ticket or reciprocal membership. The only good value in the gift shop were the buffalo wood carvings and a metal native American on horseback on sale for $19:99.

So glad I finally kept my "next time I'm in Corning" promise and visited the Rockwell Museum. After the wonderful hometown welcome from the friendly staff while buying my ticket, I was blown away by the quality and range of art displayed. I was also happy to find a great array of science-inspired activity gifts for kids in one corner of the gift shop. The annex with hands-on art projects for children was another delightful discovery. My experience took me from "next time" to "every time." Can't wait to go back.
